Late Breaking News, Dateline:   Lincoln, Nebraska USA.

I've been following the thread about using the top clamps as handle bar risers.  I wasn't comfortable with them not mating with the curved portion of the clamps.  So I called GenMar Mfg. (
http://www.zianet.com/GenMar ) . They make a set for 1" bars that fit on the Shadow, Magna, & Valkarie.   They are make out of polished aluminum, and include longer mounting bolts.   They are wider than the stock clamps.  Gene wasn't sure they would work, but I said I would be happy to be the test subject.

Well; they work.  The part number is H121, the cost is $59.95, plus $6.00 Freight.   I didn't have to lengthen any of the hoses or wiring, and nothing binds when going from lock to lock.  The handlebar covers mount just like stock.  The total "operation" took about 30 - 45 minutes.  They raise the bars up and back 1".  While I haven't tested them with a long ride, they seem to make a BIG difference.

The only thing I would like to figure out is how to cover the new space that was exposed.   I'm thinking Velcro and some sort of soft durable material that would encircle the handlebar cover.  The only down side is the key is harder to operate as it sits down in a hole created by the center cover and the metal ring that fit around the top third of the ignition switch.
