PC800 CB Antenna Installation

The antenna plans I got from Cycle Comm. The antenna bracket is made form a piece of 1/8" stainless steel about 5" long and 1" wide. I guess regular steel would work OK. Put a 90 degree bend on one end so that one leg is about 1 3/4" long and the other leg is about 3" long.

The short end gets a 3/8" hole to mount the bracket to the rear bolt of the right rear crash bar. You will have to trim a little plastic off the cover.

The long end drill a 1/2" hole to take a standard antenna mount. If you use the antenna that comes with the ChatterBox, the hole will have to be 3/4" or 1" (I forget which and you might want to use a wider piece of steel).  I used a "FireStick" 3' antenna which uses the standard 1/2" hole.  FireStick also uses it's own antenna cable that must be used.

I didn't have any 1" wide stainless steel, but did have a piece of 2" wide so that is what I used.  I drilled the 3/8" hole centered on the short end and discovered that I had to notch the end to clear the crash bar. If you use a 1" piece as their plans describe no notch would be needed. The access antenna wire I looped together in the bottom of the trunk (do not coil).   ChatterBox supplies a small tank bag to mount the CB control unit in, I discarded this and use a larger tank bag. When not in use I fold the disconnected cables into Neil's GloveBox. Everything is wired through a wire loom to keep it neat.

I also included pictures of the wire looms & connections under the seat for the battery monitor, alarm modules, driving lights. I started out using the fuse boxes that came with each item, but have since installed a separate fuse panel on the front outside of the right trunk, adjacent to the battery. I will eventually change all added electrical stuff to run off the fuse panel.
