The Arkansas "No Coast" Ride, so-called because we didn't have an ocean convenient to our location in Russellville, was held over a long weekend on July 14 - 16. Bernie Kohler, Steve Ewen, Charlie Sheets, David Sigsbee, Bob Ronecker and I braved the heat and humidity and had a wonderful time riding some of the best roads Arkansas had to offer.
The links below offer a glimpse of the many great photos taken on the trip.
Taking a break at Clinton At the corner of AR 16 and US 65, we stop at a gas station that has a Taco Bell inside. Draw you own conclusions about the pairing
Cajun lunch in Mountain View David led us to a cajun restaurant in Mountain Home. Good food and reasonable. Great, trashy decor inside.
After lunch directions Charlie, David and I discuss the route after lunch. Bob get ready to ride in the background.
The Group at Blanchard Springs A group shot of the guys at Blanchard Springs. From left to right, Charlie Sheets, Steve Ewen, Bob Ronecker, David Sigsbee and Bernie Kohler
Mark at Blanchard Springs Everyone else had retreated to the shade
Blanchard Springs Park A cool oasis on a hot day
Group ride by on AR 5 Steve Ewen photographed this group of PCs in their native habitat. A gathering this large is considered rare in Arkansas
Later that same day on AR 5 Another group shot on AR 5. The drivers behind us were impressed with our precision control as we rode by Steve at 15 mph in a 55 zone.
Train Crossing at Calico Rock Local tourist train lets off passengers at Calico Rock, a small tourist town between Mountain View and Mountain Home on AR 5
Bernie Kohler Bernie Kohler in a parking lot somewhere between Overland Park, Kansas ans Russellville, Arkansas.
Steve Ewen Intrepid road photographer Steve Ewen. If anyone had asked, we were going to tell them that we were testing a new prototype and just had to get some pictures
Overlooking Arkansas Scenic Byway 7 Steve took several shots like this. This is my favorite.
We had such a good time that we kicked around the idea of a fall ride in the same area, when the temperature is lower and the leaves have started to turn.
Watch for the announcement of the First Annual Fall Colors Ride this October in Russellville, Arkansas.
